Our newest favorite couple in music, dubbed Zelena, have been traipsing all around town since earlier this year, from the Oscar’s and the Golden Globe’s to the studio.
The music duo’s first encounter is a pretty cute chance meeting. It’s no Noah and Allie’s love at first sight at the summer carnival (a là TheNotebook), but it is at least humorous.
“It was about as random as it gets,” Zedd explained. “I had the day off… and I decided to go buy stuff for my house because I just moved, so I have an empty house, and I had to pee.”
So he used the restroom at the studio next to his where he ran into John Janick, the chairman and CEO of Interscope Records.
He continued, “So I walk in, and John, the head of our label, who had just signed Selena, was there… He was like, ‘Have you ever met Selena?’ That was literally the next thing he said… So he introduced me to her, and was like, ‘Hey, she’s cool, maybe we should make a song together.’ And then like a week later, we start working on a song. All because I had to pee.”
The song in question is their wildly popular new hit,”I Want You to Know,” for which they cute lovebirds will soon release the music video.
Zedd commented, “Yes, I will be in the video actually… and it will come out very soon.” He revealed that it’s already been shot, and “there for sure is a plot, but we can’t tell you about that. We want it to be a surprise.”
