Last Week's Picks
See what we were loving last week.

Each Wednesday, the editors of Celebuzz tell you what we’re loving this week. From Rihanna‘s “American Oxygen” to Lip Sync Battle on Spike, here are our current picks.

Rihanna – “American Oxygen”

It has been two-and-a-half year since Rihanna released an album. That is a long time when you consider she released (or re-released) an album every year from 2005 until 2012. In the buildup to the release of R8, Rihanna has shared a total of three new songs. The first, “FourFiveSeconds,” was… unexpected. It was also divisive. It’s been a moderate hit, but not on the level of “Diamonds” or “We Found Love.” At best, fans, myself included, seem underwhelmed and slightly confused. Then came “Bitch Better Have My Money,” a screamy trap anthem that does not live up  to it’s perfect one-liner of a title. Enter “American Oxygen,” our third taste of R8, and the best by far. It’s mature, somewhat political, melodic, and impressive in the same way the music on Beyoncé was impressive. Bring on R8 and with it more like “American Oxygen.” (The messy video, which naturally premiered on TIDAL, is a completely different story.) – Matt

Lip Sync Battle

Don’t judge me! I really can’t help but enjoy hilariously awkward TV shows, especially when celebrities are pinned against each other. Since Dancing With the Stars has gone way downhill, Lip Sync Battle is my latest craving. Anne Hathawaysinging ‘Wrecking Ball’ in her underwear? Yes, please! – Kendall

Kiernan Shipka’s Stylish Instagram Account

Sally Draper is my favorite Mad Men character. In fact, it’s been said before that the entire series has been about Don Draper’s daughter this whole time. In real life, the talent behind Sally, Kiernan Shipka, has been keeping a wonderful Instagram account. Like most 15-year-olds, Kiernan likes to share pictures of the three Fs: food, friends, and fashion. Lately, she’s been posting very nostalgic photos from her early Mad Men days (the show kicked off the final season’s second half last weekend). The show may be on its way out, but Kiernan Shipka’s Instagram will live on (forever, hopefully). – Peggy

How have we gone through 12 episodes already? From friendship (“Menergy Crisis”) to acceptance (“Gayborhood”) to obscure 80s movie facts (“Trivia Pursuits”), the Comedy Central series has taught us some poignant lessons these past few months while still cracking jokes about buttholes. I’ll be a little teary-eyed when the season finale airs this Wednesday — and no, it won’t be from, um, the smoke in the room. – Gabi

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s Dog Wedding (for Charity)

It’s no question that I’m a little bit obsessed with Chrissy Teigen. From her Twitter sass to her fashion (and all the moments in between like this and this), her effortless humor never fails to make my day. Her appearance in this adorable dog wedding video is no exception. Legend celebrates the union of their dogs Puddy and Pippa for the charity Omaze, in order to raise money for “The Show Me Campaign.” Donate to the cause, and Legend could end up singing at your wedding or backyard BBQ (hopefully with Teigen and dogs in tow). – Kaitlyn

The Americans

As this tense, slow-burning show quietly works its way towards its third season finale, it continues to get better and better. Last week’s episode featured one of the biggest revelations of the entire series, and the remaining few episodes are pretty much guaranteed to be equally compelling. This show deserves all of the Emmys. Literally all of them. Writing, acting, directing, costume design, etc. Do you hear me, Emmy voters? – Matt

Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kerry Washington Cover Glamour Magazine to Support Veterans.

First Lady Michelle Obama joins forces with actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Kerry Washington in the May issue of Glamour magazine to speak out on the issues surrounding military families, servicewomen and female military veterans and raise awareness surrounding the hardships faced by those who have served America. Each woman talks about the importance of helping veterans readjust to life at home, finding them employment and de-stigmatizing mental health overall. – Kendall

Twitter Updates Retweet Feature

Finally, finally, finally. This was one of my big pet peeves with Twitter. The company has officially launched its “retweet with comment” feature, allowing users to feature other tweets in their own posts without using up any of their 140 characters. It is used by clicking on the retweet button, and choosing the “quote tweet” option from the pop-up. That will then slide the tweet into the post as a “card” showing a small version of it in the stream and using up much less of the valuable 140 characters. So we will now have a big 116 characters left to fill in, since the quoted tweet still takes up some space. – Michael

Carly Rae Jepsen – “All That”

Last month, I confessed that I didn’t mind Carly Rae Jepsen’s comeback song, “I Really Like You.” Little did I know Carly would bless us again this week with “All That.” If you close your eyes and listen to this sweet pop ballad, you might just time travel to your high school prom, disco lights and all (if your prom was in the ‘80s).Peggy

Coachella 2015

Yes, I’ll admit it: I am really excited about Coachella. Even though I’ll probably get weird tanlines, I’m still super psyched about trekking out into the desert to see some of my favorite acts. Between the parties and the actual festival, I’m currently like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind with planning out the perfect itinerary. –Gabi

Elisabeth Moss Joined Instagram

Elisabeth Moss, best known as Mad Men’s Peggy Olsen, officially joined Instagram late last week. She is perfect, and her Instagram account is perfect. – Matt

Brandon Flowers – “Can’t Deny My Love”

I’m only putting this down now because, after a week of listening to it non-stop during my commute to work, I’ve finally become a fan of the song. Though The Killer frontman’s debut solo single “Crossfire” will always strike a chord in me, “Can’t Deny My Love” has somehow wormed it’s way into my list of summer rock jams. Damn you, radio and LA traffic! – Gabi

The Longest Ride

Because I’m in love with Scott Eastwood, and because I love anything Nicholas Sparks, I can’t wait to see this movie. Romance and a shirtless Scott Eastwood? Yes, please. Here’s a preview of what you can expect in The Longest Ride. – Jess
