The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced the name of their new bundle of joy.

Just two days after the birth of the fourth in line to the British royal throne, Kate Middleton and Prince William revealed the following piece of adorable baby news:

And how should you officially great the new princess, should you ever be so lucky to meet her in person?

For several weeks, bookies in the UK and beyond have favored Charlotte and Alice as frontrunners for the new royal’s name.

Elizabeth is, of course, the same name as HRH’s great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The princess’ other name, Diana, is a tribute to her late grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Little Charlotte arrived on Saturday, May 2, at 8:34 BST, weighing in at 8lbs 3 oz (that’s 3.7 kg for the rest of us). The Cambridges and their daughter left St Mary’s Hospital in London for Kensington Palace later that day.

On Sunday, Prince Charles, his wife CamillaPippa Middleton (whose middle name is Charlotte) and her parents Carole and Michael met the princess for the first time. Prince Harry, who is in Australia for his month-long secondment, released a statement on the birth of his baby niece:
