The “Burn” singer, who recently caught a lot of flack from Swifties after she posted – then promptly deleted — a photo of herself with Taylor Nation’s arch nemesis on Instagram, argues it’s “ridiculous” that she can’t be friends with both songstresses at the same time.
When asked about the so-called incriminating picture, Goulding explains that she simply deleted it because she didn’t liked how she looked in it. (And not, like, because she’s afraid she’ll be kicked out of Swift’s squad for supposedly fraternizing with the enemy or anything.)
“I deleted that because I looked bad in it,” she tells ODE. “And I think I was a bit drunk. And I thought it wasn’t a very good example of myself.”
“That’s so funny that that’s even a thing. No, I delete things all the time,” she continues, “I delete photos of myself all the time. I post them and I look and I go, ‘No, I don’t look very good. Delete!'”
Regarding her actual relationship with Swift and Perry, Goulding insists that things are a-okay and that she’s pals with both feuding pop stars.
“I’m very used to things being made up so that’s ridiculous,” she says about fans who are asking her to pick a side. “I’m great friends with Katy. I’m great friends with Taylor.”
Fun fact: Goulding, Lorde — another one of Swift’s famous BFFs who also appeared in the photo in question — Swift and Perry are all signed under Universal Music Group. So for all we know, this could just be a really genius marketing campaign.
