Lena Dunham probably won’t take the stage with supermodels again any time soon…
The Girls creator attended the Film Society of Lincoln Center on Monday night and admitted that her recent appearance – alongside Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge and Hailee Steinfeld – at Taylor Swift‘s concert in New Jersey knocked her confidence a bit.
“I was so thrilled to support my friend and so displeased to learn about the truth of my own height,” she shared with the crowd.”I’ve been feeling pretty fall, feeling pretty sturdy, and it was amazing to me, like, ‘Oh, I’m not tall, I’m chubby.’ It’s different. But I mean, on most days, I feel really great and fine about my body, but I don’t think standing next to, like, three supermodels or so is anything even the most confident woman needs to do.”
She continued, “When I socialize with those women, which I’ve done a little bit, because they’re good friends of Taylor’s, who is a good friend of mine, I don’t feel so strange. But the minute I caught sight of myself on the Jumobtron, I knew something was very wrong.”
At least she can tell it like it is! But in her defense, Swift and the models were all wearing at least six inch heels next to Dunham, who opted for flats… That’s just not fair.
Though she may be on the smaller side when it comes to the height spectrum, she’s got some big, big brains! Dunham also announced her new business venture today: a weekly newsletter for young women beginning in September titled Lenny.
Dunham told Buzzfeed the newsletter promises “feminism, style, health, politics, friendship and everything else.” She added that it will be for “an army of like-minded intellectually curious women and the people who love them, who want to bring change but also want to know, like, where to buy the best tube top for summer that isn’t going to cost your entire paycheck.”
