It’s hard to believe that it was way back in 2003 that the world was first introduced to Dory in Pixar’s Finding Nemo, the forgetful blue tang fish voiced by Ellen DeGeneres.
And now, the talk show host is happy to announce that Pixar is in production on the film’s sequel, Finding Dory.
Disney’s Chief Creative Officer, John Lasseter, shared the news on Friday at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.
In the wake of the news, DeGeneres couldn’t be happier, telling People magazine, “Well, it means a lot to me because it is a really sweet character.”
Ellen was on hand to celebrate the news, along with Finding Nemo’s director, Andrew Stanton.
Reportedly, the follow-up film will focus on an ocean sanctuary that treats injured animals before returning them into the natural habitat.
