A new Downton Abbey season 6 trailer is here and it hints at changes for the family and their downstairs staff.

PBS released a new trailer today (Sep. 14, 2015) for the long-running series’ final season.

The last installment of the series is all about closure. As exec producer Gareth Neame told Yahoo TV in July, in the final season of the Emmy-nominated series “We start to see some of these stories tied up. Some people reach resolutions. Some of the stories will be good, and some will be bad — that’s the normal way with Downton. I think it will be a satisfying conclusion for the fans.”

Jim Carter, who plays strict butler Mr Carson, told AFP about that charged moment when they wrapped up the final scene.

“We were in the servants’ hall, all the gang, candle lit, a muted scene and they said ‘cut’. I started to say a few words on behalf of everybody and… before I knew it… I was a mess! And all the crew, the blokes were all crying—it was a soggy mess!” he said.

Still, fellow cast member Elizabeth McGovern, who plays Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, expressed the view that it was time for the series to end.

“For me it feels as though these characters have told their stories and it feels right to put them to bed,” she said in a recent interview in London.

The final season of Downton Abbey premieres on Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. on Masterpiece on PBS.
