Warning: if you don’t enjoy watching Leonardo DiCaprio get tossed around, beaten up and nearly mauled to death by a bear, then this is not the movie for you.
As promised, 20th Century Fox and New Regency have unveiled the first full trailer for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Oscar contender The Revenant. This time, viewers get a better understanding of why Leo’s character — American fur trapper and frontiersman Hugh Glass — is so angry and determined to make his way across the American wilderness.
The Revenant, based on Michael Punke’s 2003 non-fiction book of the same name, also stars Tom Hardy as the guy who buries Glass alive after the latter is attacked by a bear. Glass’ son is also killed by Hardy’s character and his crew.
Revenge never looked so cold (and hairy, and dirty).
The Revenant opens in limited theaters on Dec. 25 before a nationwide release on Jan. 8, 2016.
