Beyoncé barely says anything in this song. But when she does, it’s magic.
Nearly five months after teasing the world with a sliver of “Can I,” Drake has answered our musical prayers and unveiled the official, finished version of his new song with Beyoncé. On Saturday, the Canadian rapper played the duet for the first time on his OVO Sound radio program on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
Perhaps “duet” is overstating it: the one they call Queen Bey merely drops the words “can I,” “baby” and “before I turn the lights out” as Drizzy demands that you tell him exactly what and who you want to be.
Still, it’s technically new Beyoncé. And new Drake. And on this brisk fall morning, we’ll take it.
