In the new issue of NME, TSwift, who also covers the magazine’s fourth print issue, says she has a new way to deal with future quarrels that may come her way.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” she says on the subject of Nicki and their MTV VMAs mix-up. “But I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone’s management, I get their number and I text them. It’s an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015.”
Of course, if Tay Tay had thought of that before mistakenly calling out the “Anaconda” rapper for a comment over the VMA nominations, the world probably wouldn’t have seen the two ladies perform on stage at the award show this summer. That sweet/awkward/interesting hug probably wouldn’t have happened.
Coulda woulda shoulda aside, NME also asked Taylor about another rapper in her life: Kanye West.
“Me and Kanye are on such good terms now, six years later,” according to Taylor, who was infamously shoved aside by Kanye at the 2009 VMAs when she took home the moon man for Best Female Video. If you’ve been keeping up with Kanye, you know he did something similar to Beck at the Grammys earlier this year.
“It took a while… But I had to tell Beck this story earlier. I was at dinner with Kanye a week after the Grammys, he stops what he’s saying and he goes, ‘What is this song? I need to listen to this every day.’ I said, ‘It’s Beck. It’s on an album called Morning Phase, I think you’ve heard of it…’ We just burst out laughing. And he says, ‘Hey, sometimes I’m wrong.’”
NME’s full chat with Taylor Swift arrives Friday (Oct. 9) online and on newsstands.
