When sitting down in an interview with BET, Sandra Bullock opened up about how she talks openly with her son, Louis, about facing racism in the world.
The Oscar winner is in the midst of promoting her new film, Our Brand is Crisis, when she talked openly about how she’s educating her adopted son, who is African-American, about how to deal with race issues outside the home.
Bullock told the cable channel:
It’s not a conversation any parent wants to have with their child — that you’ll be judged on the color of your skin rather than the content of your character — but it exists and I want him to be safe and I want him to be aware.
Bullock adopted 5-year-old Louis in 2010 as a single parent following her split from ex-husband, Jesse James.
