Love may be on its deathbed.
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, who were rumored to have split then reconciled this spring, are said to have broken up for the second time this year. Australia’s KIIS 106.5 reports that Garfield, who is currently in Sydney filming Hacksaw Ridge, has been telling locals that he’s a single man.
According to the radio station, the 32-year-old was out partying with co-stars Vince Vaughn andMel Gibson at Pelicano Bar over the weekend. When Garfield was leaving the watering hole with an unnamed blonde woman, a passerby allegedly yelled, “Where’s Emma Stone?”
An insider claimed the actor then replied, “We’re not together anymore.”
In April, rumors began to surface that Garfield and his longtime girlfriend Stone, 28, were “taking a break” from their relationship due to their busy schedules. Days later, Stone was seen carrying a shopping bag with her Garfield’s name on it.
While the two notoriously private never confirmed or denied the rumored split, Stone did comment on why she refuses to talk about their romance to the press in her interview with the Wall Street Journal.
“I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason—because it’s all so speculative and baseless,” Stone explained at the time. “Once you start responding—once you’re like, ‘No, that’s not true’—then they’re like, ‘Well, if we push enough, we’ll get a comment, so let’s see what else we can make up.’ I understand the interest in it completely, because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it.”
She continued, “There’s probably some rebelliousness that comes out in me after all these stories and people texting you for weeks about something that, for the most part, is not true. But even when it’s false, I would rather just let it be false.”
Stone and Garfield have been dating since 2011 after meeting on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man.
