Lamar Odom‘s friend and former Los Angeles Lakers teammate is speaking out.
Kobe Bryant talked to reporters about Lamar’s condition on Tuesday before practice, and seemed very hopeful about his condition.
“He’s a brother above everything else… it’s important to see him get back on his feet. It’s amazing to see him doing so well. It truly is remarkable,” he told reporters.
“It puts things in perspective a little bit more. This is what we do, this is not who we are,” he said of the sport. “Sometimes basketball can get in the way of life and the way of living.”
Lamar is currently on the road to recovery at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after reportedly undergoing two emergency surgeries.
A source tells E! NewsLamar does not need a kidney transplant, contrary to reports, and is making ‘small steps every single day.’
The publication goes on to report that at the moment, only Khloe Kardashian and Lamar’s children are able to visit him per the hospital’s request, since his immune system is low.
Lamar was found unconscious in a brothel in Pahrump, Nev. on Oct. 13.
