Divas, not diamonds, are forever.

Noted diva Mariah Carey opens up about being a diva, and her new Hallmark Channel holiday movie A Christmas Melody, in which she’s directing and starring.

She told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m still always going to be a diva in certain ways and I don’t mean that in the bad sense of the word. I just mean, if there’s a makeup artist there and they don’t mind touching me up while I’m directing…”

Okay, Mariah.

The flawless pop Queen also opened up about making her red carpet debut with her bazillionaire Australian beau James Packer at the premiere of The Intern in New York City back in September.

“I don’t think either one of us thought, ‘Here we are, making a debut,’ he’s not that guy,” she commented. “It was a lot for him. … I just automatically pose. I can’t help it!”

Nor did she have to give him any posing tips, which is a good thing because it’d ruin her own red carpet moments and best angles otherwise. “If I did that, I would have had to coach him instead of posing,” she adeed, “then I’d look bad in pictures.”

Mariah’s latest project, as star and director of A Christmas Melody, is like old hat for her. “I’ve been directing so much of my own work for a really long time,” she explained. “A lot of music videos that I didn’t take credit for.” ET further notes that Carey got her first directing credit for her 1995 “Fantasy” music video.

Anyways, a movie titled A Christmas Melody seems to be a perfect fit for Mariah; after all, her hit Christmas album Merry Christmas is basically a staple for the season’s soundtrack.

A Christmas Melody premieres on December 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Channel.
