It was an emotional day for Prince Harry.
The royal greeted marathon runners at the finish line of the Walk of Britain on Nov. 1 at Buckingham Palace, and one veteran in particular had an especially moving story.
Prince Harry met former Marine Kristie Ennis who had just finished the 1,000-mile marathon across Britain. She and five others made the trek for charity, and in honor of a fallen marine. When Ennis met Prince Harry, she presented him with Corporal Baune‘s dog tags.
According to Us Weekly, Prince Harry was visibly emotional, saying, “No I can’t, I can’t accept this,” before embracing Ennis, who said, “Please, you know what this means to me, I want you to.”
24-year-old Ennis was injured in a helicopter crash while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.
