Sia spilled the beans about what’s going on.
While everyone is
patiently waiting for Rihanna’s ANTi to be released, it turns out the album still isn’t ready. According to the singer/songwriter, RiRi is still looking for songs to include on her eighth album. “The other night she came over and listened to half of 25 songs I played her because she’s still looking for songs for her new album,” she told Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 this weekend.
Sia wrote Rihanna’s 2012 single “Diamonds” and recently revealed that she offered RiRi her own song “Alive,” only to see it rejected. “She was there to listen to songs and see if there was anything that she was into,” she added. It was a business meeting for sure. She took four [songs] but I don’t know if they’ll end up [on the album].”
Rumors have been circulating that Rihanna would release ANTi in December as a last minute surprise, but it looks like 2016 may be a more reasonable estimation. With her world tour beginning in February, we can only assume the album will be out before then.
