The actor promises big things for fans of the apocalyptic show.
Andrew Lincoln, better known as Rick Grimes on AMC’s The Walking Dead, spoke with The Wrap recently and although he was pretty cagey about the upcoming half-season, he did offer some morsels of info for the show’s rabid (fresh-eating?) fanbase.
“This is a hard season,” Lincoln said. “You’ll see in the back eight, this episode on…it really moves incredibly quickly and intensely to one of the most heartbreaking and extraordinary season finales we’ve ever attempted.”
When last we left off, Grimes was attempting to lead a band of survivors through Alexandria after an army of zombies poured into the city. So serious bloodshed wouldn’t be a surprise in the next episode.
Lincoln also talked about his state after shooting a season of the physically and emotionally demanding show.
“I just collapse. I have to do a little bit of press and sort of wrap things up, but as soon as I get off the plane at Heathrow I have to be sort of wheeled into a car and then my bed and I fall asleep for two weeks, choking and sweating. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
The actor also shared the strange and fun experience of meeting fans.
“People are just very sweet and want a selfie,” he said. “And then generally when younger girls come up to me and ask ‘Can I get a picture with you?’ I feel very flattered and then they say, ‘It’s for my mom.’”
The Walking Dead returns on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
