You better believe that we pledge our allegiance to Fabio.
Are you ready, America? The iconic voice of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter has fully committed his heart and his hair to the United States of America by becoming a U.S. citizen. The Milan native spoke exclusively about his love affair with America with Celebuzz editor Mia Lardiere on a special episode of our new celebrity news podcast, Celebuzz’d.
“I felt home for the first time in my life,” he said. “I never had that feeling in Italy or any other country that I had visited before … I really feel home here. I feel so comfortable, so peaceful.”
“I had nothing in common with Europe, so when I came into this country I said, ‘This is me.’”
Fabio, who oft travelled with his parents when he was young, recounted his earliest memory of USA-FOMO when he ran away from his father as they were about to return home on a flight to Italy.
“But then they caught me. My father went to the police and they caught me and they put me pretty much back on a plane,” he says. “I remember that was the worst trip going back. I mean, I wouldn’t even talk to my father. The only thing I said to my father was like, ‘You know what? When I’m 18, 19 years old and I’m old enough, I’m gonna leave and go live in America.’”
And now, here we are.
