It pays to have a sex tape leaked.
A jury awarded Hulk Hogan awarded $115 million in damages after finding that the website Gawker violated his privacy when they posted a video clip of him having sex with his friend’s wife. He will receive $55 million in economic damages and $60 million for emotional distress. Next, the jury will consider whether or not to add punitive damages.
“We’re exceptionally happy with the verdict. We think it represents a statement as to the public’s disgust with the invasion of privacy disguised as journalism. The verdict says no more,” the Hogan’s team said in a statement to People.
The former WWE star later took to Twitter celebrate his win in court.

In the video, Hogan — who’s real name is Terry Gene Bollea — is seen having sex with Heather Clem, the now ex-wife of Hulk’s friend Bubba “The Love Sponge” Clem. After it was published in 2012, he says he was completely humiliated. “It was even embarrassing as my character. Hulk Hogan was embarrassed,” he said in March as he took to the stand.
