Leave to a pro to preach.

Lady Gaga is among the many artists and fans that are still in shock over the tragic and untimely loss of the pop music icon, Prince. Gaga explained his cultural impact in her own words in the caption of the performance photo featured below.

“I tend to believe that when we die our souls hover for at least a moment if not longer before they either rest or are recycled into the consciousness of an already living being or maybe a newborn baby,” writes Gaga. “Isn’t it amazing Prince shared his soul with us so deeply before his death, and now after we will be replenished endlessly by both his legacy and all that he still has to give from the beyond.”

“Thank you for sharing your life with us Prince. Giving up your anonymity because you felt compelled to share your gift. We learned so much. You just found God early, he needed you upstairs to innovate in heaven.”

Gaga has celebrated Prince as a primary influence of her work, especially in the making of her album, Born This Way.

Since the news of his death, Prince’s albums, The Very Best of Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack, skyrocketed back to the top of the Billboard 200 charts, sitting at No. 1 and 2 respectively. The Very Best of Prince is his fifth No. 1 album on the chart after 3121 debuted at the top on Apr. 8, 2006. Purple Rain is returning to AMC theaters in honor of his memory from Apr. 22 to Apr. 27.
