Entertainment Weekly reports that Scribner acquired Kemper’s untitled book that will feature “stories and personal essays” from her childhood in St. Louis, her stint on The Office, her role in Bridesmaids, among others throughout her career.
“We were bowled over by Ellie Kemper’s gifts as a writer,” said Scribner Executive Editor Shannon Welch in a statement to EW. “She’s brilliant, charming, relatable, unexpected, insightful, and hilarious. She couldn’t be better company on the page.”
Kemper mentioned her itch to write in a recent interview with Alec Baldwin on his podcast, Here’s the Thing. She joins the company of other comedians including Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, and Amy Schumer who have closed high-profile book deals, with Schumer’s yet-to-be-released memoir selling for over $8 million.
