Needless to say, we’re really looking forward it. The first trailer debuted online today, depicting a perfectly-cast Stone as Mia, an aspiring actress who falls in love with a particularly good-looking Gosling as Sebastian, a jazz pianist.
The trailer (above) features a brand-new song from Gosling called “City of Stars,” which is available to stream right now on iTunes and TIDAL. The entire movie features original music by Justin Hurwitz.
But according to the plot, “as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.”
In other words, it may or may not have a happy ending.
La LaLand, directed by Whiplash director Damien Chazelle, is set to debut at the Venice Film Festival this August and will hit theaters December 2, 2016. It also stars J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, and more.
