Like most Kardashian obsessed 26-year-olds, I have been absolutely enthralled with Khloé Kardashian‘s fitness journey over the last few years.
As a fan of Keeping Up with the Kardashians since season one, I’ve watched Khloé go from the “fat sister” (for the record, she was never fat) to the she-just-might-be-hotter-than-Kim-Kardashian sister and she’s never looked better.
But like most Kardashian obsessed 26-year-olds who dedicate entirely too much time to watching TV, I have not been on my own fitness journey. So while I’ve watched Kardashian get hotter than ever, my body’s kind of done the opposite.
So I decided to get motivation straight from the source. If Kardashian could do it, I definitely could too, right? So I challenged myself to seven days of living like my fitness inspiration, and I barely survived.
Day 1: Khloé Kardashian’s Bodysuit Workout
For my first day, I went directly to Kardashian’s app for some inspiration and decided to try out her bodysuit workout. Since the workout required no gym equipment, I decided to do it at home and even enlisted my roommate to try it out, because every Khloé needs aKourtney.
The workout was simple enough, most of the exercises I’d done before, except for the side plank toe-touch (girl, how do you do that?). We got through the workout in about 25 minutes we were a little sweaty, but that could have had more to do with our hot air conditioning free NYC apartment. All in all, the workout felt a little easy so we decided to attempt Kardashian’s Abs Looking Fab workout. Big mistake.
After weeks of pure laziness, attempting two workouts in one day was more than our bodies could handle. We barely got through the first two exercises, before we wanted to give up. We ended up skipping a couple of rounds and when we finally made it to the last exercise collapsed on the floor in a disgusting puddle of sweat. Effective workout? Absolutely, but I barely had enough energy to put together my Chrissy Teigen Chinois Chicken Salad after.
Day 2: Khloé Kardashian’s Abs Lookin Fab Workout
After barely making it through the ab workout the day before, I decided to give it another shot and add a little cardio, and it was much, much better.
While the workout was challenging, I was able to make it through and with the added cardio I really felt like I got a full workout. And the next day my abs were feeling it! I can totally see how these moves will get you the kind of abs that everyone thinks are photoshopped.
Day 3: Soul Cycle
I’ve taken spinning classes before, but I’ve never worshiped at the house of Soul Cycle, but as soon as I pitched this story, I knew I had to check it out. Kardashian is always raving about Soul Cycle this was the workout I was most excited for. I signed up for a Sunday afternoon class, which just so happened to come after all day family bbq that involved several strong margaritas, which was about as terrible an idea as it sounds.
Battling a pretty brutal hangover, I managed to drink enough water to get down to the studio but wasn’t sure I was going to actually make it through the class. Luckily enough, I’d signed up for a Whitney Houston vs. Mariah Carey class, which means the music was the perfect motivation to get me going.
The first few minutes were pretty brutal (hangover and all) but once I got into the rhythm I really loved it. My instructor at the 92nd street location Andres Quintero was amazing and kept me motivated until the very end. The class is super challenging, but I completely understand why everyone in Hollywood is obsessed.
Day 4: Khloé Kardashian’s Looking Hot in Leather Pants Workout
Day 5: Overthrow Boxing Studio
For my next Koko inspired workout, I decided to try one of her favorites: boxing. To really channel my inner Kardashian, I decided to sign up for a 6 am boxing class because she always says she like to get her workouts done with first thing in the morning. Let me tell you, it was brutal.
While waking up at 5 am is not my idea of a start to a good day, I channeled my inner Koko, hopped in a Uber (because who has time for the train at 5 am), and headed to the boxing studio.
Luckily when I got there it was obvious I wasn’t the only person totally regretting a 6 am workout class. The class contained a combination of strength training, partner work, and everyone’s favorite, hitting the punching bag. While I was super tired when I arrived, it didn’t take long to get my adrenaline flowing and the instruction Sergio Chicon was super motivating. I didn’t bring my own wrist wraps so I didn’t get to punch as had as I would have liked,
I didn’t bring my own wrist wraps so I didn’t get to punch as had as I would have liked, but I can see how this stress relieving workout would be the perfect distraction when you need to get away from say, your crumbling marriage.
Word to the wise, if you ever want to take a boxing class and I highly recommend it, get your own gloves. Many classes provide gloves for anyone to use, but as you can imagine all of those sweaty hands smell terrible! If you do have to use the gloves provided, don’t make the same mistake I did and take them off in the middle of class, the smell will make it hard to continue.
Day 6: Looking Hot in Leather Pants
For day six, I took it back to the app and tried another one of Kardashians workouts and added a little cardio. This time, it was a lower body workout and in an attempt to be as Kardashian as possible, I decided to do this workout wearing makeup.
Kardashian’s talked on her app about what makeup she wears to the gym and while it’s not a lot, considering I never wear any makeup at the gym, it was a big difference. Kardashian likes to fill in her eyebrows and wear concealer and mascara. While it seems like these are exactly the kinds of occasions waterproof makeup was made for, Kardashian insists she doesn’t like to wear waterproof makeup because it’s too hard to take off.
So I filled in my eyebrows, put on some mascara and covered a couple of pimples and got to my workout. This app workout was my favorite of all, probably because it included the squats Kardashian credits for her amazing butt. The workout was challenging but took about 25 minutes to get through, which when coupled with cardio brought my workout to just about an hour.
While I made it through the workout, my makeup sadly did not. As soon as I got a little sweaty and wiped my face, I promptly wiped off an eyebrow. I tried to keep going without worrying about it, but all I could think about was the fact that I only had one eyebrow!
Before the workout was over, I ended up wiping most of the makeup off, but I followed Kardashian’s other tip of always having big sunglasses, so no one had to see my hot messy self.
Day 7: Day Off.
Every girl deserves a day off, right?
While a week isn’t long enough to make any significant changes, I can say I felt healthier, had more energy, and actually lost two pounds! My main goal was to find out whether or not Kardashian’s uber healthy lifestyle is attainable for us mere regular people like you and me and here’s what I’ve learned.
The workouts themselves are totally doable and while Khloé has the ability to dedicate more time to her fitness than us 9-5 folks, it’s totally possible to get in at least one Khloé Kardashian workout a day. That being said, there are tons of conveniences that come with being Khloé Kardashian like having your trainer come to your house and having a glam squad always on call that makes life just a little easier.
All in all, a Kardashian body takes lots of time and dedication, but it’s not impossible. Kardashian said her fitness journey spanned more than three years, so 2019 I’m coming for you!
