It literally pays to be the most-followed person on Instagram.
Selena Gomez, who dethroned bestie Taylor Swift this year for the top honor, reportedly earns six-figures just from doing things that we plebes do for free. According to D’Marie Analytics, she rakes in approximately $550,000 for sharing selfies and posting across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Estimated with a net worth of $45 million, Gomez also currently holds the title for the most-liked photo shared on Instagram. The photo — a sponsored shot for Coca-Cola with 4.6 million likes and counting — has beaten out ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber‘s 3.7 million likes.
“It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, ‘Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it.’ I know it’s boring, but that’s genuinely what I do,” Gomez recently told The Hollywood Reporter of her social media strategy. “I’m not sure there’s a method to my madness.”
Well, it also helps to have a photographer capture your every move. According to the “Hands to Myself” singer, she does have someone on staff who is documenting her current tour life.
“I try to find a good balance of just being 100 percent myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting.”,” she said. “I’ve created this bond with him, so it’s super organic when he takes photos.”
Hey, it takes money to make money.
