Then Heughan paused, “Do we really want to see that?” Nope, we sure don’t!
The Scottish actor is pretty excited about the next season of Outlander, though. At the end of Season 2, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is forced to leave her beloved husband Jamie in the 18th-century to fight in a battle in which the Scots are firmly defeated by the British. Because she is pregnant with their child, Claire must travel back through the stones to her time in the late 1940s, so she will be safe.
Fast forward to the 1960s, Claire and her now 20-year-old daughter travel to Scotland for a friend’s funeral, and it’s then that Claire discovers Jamie actually survived the battle at Culloden. She decides she has to go back to find him – and be with him for good.
Although Heughan couldn’t divulge too much, the 36-year-old does explained about how his character will age. “It’s less about his appearance, and more about who he is without Claire.”
He added, “It’s going to be a completely different show. Next year’s stuff is probably the most interesting, in a way. We’ve been setting it up, setting the stage, introducing these characters, and now it goes into new, different worlds,” which apparently includes the Caribbean.
A premiere date for Outlander season 3 has not yet been announced. In the meantime, check out some pics of the gorgeous Sam out and about in the Big Apple!
