The fan told E! News that O’Brien was in good spirits and was happy to chat with her for a short while before grabbing his drink.
The accident occurred on set in March; O’Brien suffered multiple broken bones and facial lacerations when he was thrown off a vehicle during a stunt and hit by another car. Production was shut down until O’Brien could recover from his injuries, and the release date has been pushed back to 2018.
Fox said in a statement at that time, “The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”
Maze Runner author James Dashner tweeted fans immediately following the incident, “I just want to let everyone know that yes, Dylan was hurt, but that he’s going to be okay. Not life threatening in any way. Production is postponed but certainly not cancelled… All that matters now is that Dylan recovers. We love you, Dylan!!!”
