Roughly a year ago, Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter Chelsea O’Donnell was discovered after running away from home, a story that captured the nation’s attention. Now, the mother and daughter appear to have mended fences.
The actress and her 18-year-old daughter posed for a photo which she shared on Instagram with the simple yet touching caption: “chelsea and me – what a difference a year makes #hopelives.”
The new image is a far cry from last year’s events. “Chelsea stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention,” a message posted on Rosie’s website read when she had disappeared. “Any information please contact authorities.”
Chelsea was found at the New Jersey home of a 26-year-old man with an arrest record, including heroin possession. Not long after, Chelsea turned 18 and requested to live with her birth, Deanna Micoley, who had given her up for adoption as a baby in 1997.
At the time, it appeared Rosie and her daughter had gone their separate ways after frequent disagreements. But now, thankfully the tide has turned.
Like their public appearance together in June, the new photo seems to suggest that a once-tumultuous relationship could be improving between the comedian and her adoptive daughter.
