Private information — including Jones’ passport and license — in addition to private photos from her iCloud were posted on the website of the Olympics’ most spirited unofficial correspondent on Wednesday (Aug. 24, 2016). The site is now offline with a GoDaddy holding page as a temporary replacement.
Jones recently left social media after being targeted with vile, racist remarks since the opening of Ghostbusters. Her absence led to a conversation with Jack Dorsey, one of the founders of Twitter, who suspended the account of conservative activist Milo Yiannopulous, whose followers were cyber bullying Jones. The hack is being speculated to have a connection to Yiannapulous’s followers as references to his ban from Twitter were made in the turnover of her site. Yiannapulous responded to The Hollywood Reporter‘s request for comment with the following:
“I’m distressed to hear that Leslie Jones has been hacked and naked pictures of her have been posted online. I know we had our differences after my review of Ghostbusters but I wish her all the best at what must be a deeply upsetting time.”
Really, guys. What did this beautiful soul do to deserve such an act of malice cast upon her?
