We were not prepared for just how delightful this interview with Jamie Chung and her two furriest friends was going to be.
It all sounded like a dream on paper: Jamie Chung — actress, blogger, lover of animals — would meet us to record an episode of Celebuzz’d and North Shore Animal League America would bring adoptable puppies along to join us. In this scenario’s eventual real-life manifestation, such a setting was ideal for midday conversation about Chung’s most recent happenings and sets a high standard for all interviews to follow.
Chung, who recently joined the cast of Gotham in its third season as Valerie Vale, is keeping busy even in her time off-screen. Her blog What the Chung?, which began as a creative outlet, has become a one-stop shop to keep tabs on the sights that she’s seeing, the clothes that she’s wearing, and the delicious food that keeps her going. Chung’s style is that of a sophisticated sneaker head who mixes contemporary colors and prints with tailored pieces, allowing her looks to transition between running errands during the day and industry events in the evening.
Chung credits her mom as her fashion icon and says that personal style continues to grow with our identities.
“But I feel like going back to my roots of being a sneaker head in high school and in middle school, I feel like that collection has never stopped growing,” continues Chung. ‘It just gets better and bigger! And when you marry a sneaker head, it’s just game over.”
In addition to sneakers, Chung has a deep love for animals that it is evident across her social platforms. She and her husband Brian Greenberg spent over a year admiring their eventual dog Ewok before adopting him into their home, and their lives have changed ever since.
“Ewok was kind of like the lazy one,” says Chung. “He was like, a little bit bigger than everyone else and he really didn’t care, but he was just so boss.”
Now, Chung is giving back by working with Petfinder in celebration of their 20th anniversary of finding forever homes for animals like Ewok who are in need of adoption. She and Petfinder ask that you watch the #MetOnPetfinder anniversary video to help generate one million views before Oct. 24, 2016, at which point Petfinder will donate $200,000 to 20 of the network’s shelter and rescue partners. Every view counts, so hit play as often as you can before the October deadline to help ensure that sweet animals like Ewok find loving guardians like Chung and Greenberg.
