Kaley Cuoco is arguably one of the biggest stars on television right now. But even as the star of the number one TV show in the country, she’s still been able to keep her private life relatively well, private. So we’ve taken the time to round up some facts about the actress that we’re sure you’ve never heard before. How well do you know Cuoco?
1. She graduated high school early.
Because Cuoco began acting when she was just six-years-old, the attention she began to receive at school was a little too much for the actress, and during high school, she decided she wanted to be homeschooled. Through her homeschooling program, she graduated high school when she was just 16.
2. She went to prom with Ashley Tisdale.
Because she didn’t attend a traditional high school for her last year, she didn’t get to go to her own prom, but childhood friend Tisdale invited Cuoco to be her date at her high school prom. Cuoco explained to Playboy that she decided to wear a simple black dress as to not call attention to herself, but still ended up getting made fun of. “These mean girls kept coming at me: ‘Oh, you think you’re so classy you couldn’t wear a prom dress? Do you think you’re at the Academy Awards?’It was the worst night ever.”
3. She played a young Ellen Degeneres.
During one of her first on-screen roles, Cuoco was cast to play “Little Ellen” on Degeneres’ self-titled sitcom.
4. She was once a nationally ranked tennis player.
Before Cuoco decided to take on Hollywood, tennis was her first love. The actress began playing when she was just three-years-old and was so good when she was 14 she was a nationally ranked player. Cuoco gave up the sport just two years later to dedicate all of her time to her acting career.
5. She could have a career as a singer.
While Cuoco devotes all of her time to her acting career, she once showed off her singing chops when she collaborated with then-boyfriend Christopher French (who went on to marry Cuoco’s childhood friend, Tisdale), on a recording of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to benefit the Humane Society of the United States.
6. She wasn’t the first choice for Penny on The Big Bang Theory.
While the role of Penny on the number one show The Big Bang Theory, is what undoubtedly catapulted Cuoco to superstardom, she almost didn’t get the part. In the unaired pilot episode, the female neighbor was actually named Katie and she was played by actress Amanda Walsh.
7. She’s been engaged twice.
Before walking down the aisle with now ex-husband Ryan Sweeting, Cuoco was engaged to addiction specialist Josh “Lazie” Resnik. The couple eventually called it quits after more than two years of dating.
8. She calls her breast implants the “best decision I ever made.”
After years of speculation, Cuoco admitted she’s gotten breast augmentation as well as a nose job when she was just 18-years-old.
