“The case is settled and everyone agrees that Rocco’s needs changed and he’s going to be living with dad,” Peter Bronstein, attorney for Ritchie, told Page Six. “Everyone’s agreed to that and there’s no further need for any kind of a court case.”
In 2015, Madonna sued Ritchie after Rocco refused to fly to New York to visit his mother for the holidays. At the time, Ritchie, who divorced Madonna in 2008, reportedly believed that his ex’s parenting style is “counterproductive” to Rocco’s development as a child who struggles with severe dyslexia. Meanwhile, Madonna was said to believe that Ritchie was “trying to brainwash” their son into hating her.
This year, a New York judged scolded both parents for dragging their son to court, claiming that the custody battle was only hurting their family and urged Madonna and Ritchie to settle.
Rocco is the only biological child from Madonna and Ritchie’s marriage. The couple also adopted a Malawian boy named David in 2006.
