According to the 21-year-old, her diet is actually pretty average. A typical day starts off with getting up at 7 a.m. and eating a balanced breakfast comprised of eggs and protein. Admittedly, she’s recently started adding Heinz Baked Beans to her plate after boyfriend Zayn Malik introduced her to the British breakfast staple.
“I usually eat breakfast or have coffee before I do anything. I live near the Smile, and I love their scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. I drink orange juice and coffee always,” she tells the publication. “At home I love scrambled eggs and toast; it’s just an easy go-to. My boyfriend, being British, got me into breakfast beans, so that’s what I’ve been eating lately.”
For lunch, Hadid tends to eat what she wants. On her off days, she says she likes hitting up JG Melon in the West Village for her favorite burger in New York City. However, she’s also not opposed to a fresh little salad, too.
“My personal motto is ‘Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane,’ so if I’m in the mood I’ll go to JG Melon in the West Village,” she says. “Again, I love the Smile. They have a little arugula salad that I could eat every day.”
As for a mid-afternoon snack, Hadid recommends grabbing a coffee and sitting at Color Me Mine “for, like, five hours and paint really detailed mugs or whatever.” If she’s feeling a bit peckish, she likes to satiate her sweet tooth with some ice cream.
“There used to be an Emack & Bolio’s on Houston Street, which is my favorite ice-cream place—I love the Grasshopper Pie—and I would walk past it on my way to the gym every day, but one day it was closed and I almost cried,” she shares. “Now I’ll just Postmate pints of it to my apartment.”
Though her life may be chaotic at times, Hadid believes her diet is pretty simple and low-key. Whether she’s going out or staying in with Malik, she prefers to just have fun and enjoy her food.
“If I’m going out, I like to go for dinner and drinks with friends. I love Bond Street for sushi,” she says. “For a night in, I love to cook and watch a movie.”
