Next month, Alicia Keys is going to drop Here, the long-awaited follow-up to her 2012 effort Girl on Fire. In the days leading up to her new record’s release, Keys shared the new single “Blended Family (What You Do for Love).” Today, she dropped a new short film teasing the full-length’s tone and subject matter.
Titled The Gospel, the new 23-minute, black-and-white film explores Keys’ home, New York City, with interviews of everyday New Yorkers and an introduction to some her as-yet-unreleased music from the new album. Broken into four chapters, the film teases a gritty, understated new effort from Keys that doesn’t skimp on catchy hooks.
The short, which is executive produced by Swizz Beats and directed by A.V. Rockwell, first debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2016. As Keys previously stated, the new short film focuses on her formative years in the Big Apple.
