Leonard Cohen, legendary singer-songwriter, poet, novelist, and artist, has died at age 82.
His record label, Sony Music Canada, confirmed the news on Cohen’s official Facebook page on Thursday (Nov. 10, 2016). “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter, and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away,” the post read. “We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”
“My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records,” Cohen’s son Adam told Rolling Stone. “He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humor.”
Shortly after his passing was announced, celebrities immediately began taking to their social media accounts to pay tribute to the singer. Everyone from Olivia Wilde to Justin Timberlake and even Lena Dunham, who’s stayed quiet since Hillary Clintonlost the election, paid their respect to the man who gave us “Hallelujah.”

Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried, in my way, to be free."

RIP Leonard Cohen. Ugh. It feels pointed, this death. It's making us remember songs like Come Healing which is a good one for these days

No other artist's music felt or sounded like Leonard Cohen's. Yet his work resonated across generations. Canada and the world will miss him.
