Warning! Spoilers ahead!
Are we in for more lessons from Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)? As we previously reported, he and his legion of ne’er-do-wells will be descending upon Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the shell-shocked residents of Alexandria in Sunday’s (Nov. 13, 2016) episode of The Walking Dead. Now, thanks to a newly-released clip, we also know that the ruthless baddie is bringing along his possible new recruit — Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
In the video, Negan and a swarm of Saviors appear at the gate, presumably to collect their tribute from the community. Among Negan’s cohorts is Dwight (Austin Amelio), whose role in this apocalyptic tale shifted drastically last week. He appears to be looking after Mr. Dixon, who, judging from his filthy clothes, is still defying Negan’s attempt to break his spirit.
So why bring him to Alexandria? To witness the mistreatment of his friends? To be forced to hurt or kill someone he loves himself? Neither option seems beyond a guy who nearly forced a man to cut off his son’s hand.
At the clip’s outset, Rick points out that Negan is early to collect. Could this unscheduled visit be just another tactic to rattle the residents of Alexandria? Also, we don’t discover Daryl is among them until the video’s very last frames, hinting that perhaps they paid a visit on Daryl’s behalf. Regardless, all bets are off when Negan waltzes into town.
