“I met him Montréal when I was doing a movie there called Enemies, A Love Story and one of my oldest and best friends introduced me to Leonard Cohen,” she recalled. “He took me out and we had the best day. He took me to a pool hall. Then, he took me for these great pastrami sandwiches and he showed me Montréal.”
“There was this flea market on the dock with this big, gold Joan of Arc [statue] and I said, ‘You have to come see this thing!'” Huston continued. “I loved his song ‘Joan of Arc,’ so we had that kind of magic moment in Montréal.”
Though 2016 — between the passings of some of music’s biggest names and the recent presidential election — has taken a toll on a lot of people, Huston still believes there’s some good in the world. When asked what message she’d like to give to the world to end the year on a high note, she only had positive things to say.
“Let’s be peaceful. Let’s be loving. Let’s remember fighting only leads to more fighting,” she told us. “Love is all we need. Remember the words of John Lennon!”
