Glee star Cory Monteith‘s death in 2013 from an overdose still seems unreal, especially because no one had a clue he was abusing alcohol and drugs. Now, a new REELZ TV special, Autopsy: The Last Hours of Cory Monteith, focuses on the timeline of events leading up to his passing, along with delving into medical evidence.
In a reenactment clip from the TV special, the actor is called into a meeting with Glee creator Ryan Murphy to discuss Monteith’s issues. Media journalist James Desborough narrates the clip, saying, “Cory was late several times to work, and people began sensing from the smell of his breath that there were problems, and there were issues. We understand from sources that at times he would neck bottles of whiskey in just under an hour and would then continue drinking until he passed out.”
It continues, “It’s not only his drinking that Murphy is concerned about; it’s his suspicion that Cory is taking drugs… To Cory’s dismay, Murphy tells him he’s pulling him off the show, despite there being two episodes left to film.” Watch the clip here, via Us Weekly.
Autopsy: The Last Hours of Cory Monteith airs Saturday, December 3 on REELZ.
