This week, the new animated film Sing serenades its way into theaters boasting an all-star cast and some infectious music. To mark the occasion and celebrate the holidays, the film’s A-list cast teams up with The Tonight Show to perform an a-cappella version of the yuletide classic, “Wonderful Christmastime.”
The video starts out with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots getting the merriment going with some pleasant tones, but, in no time, everyone from Matthew McConaughey to Scarlett Johansson to Seth MacFarlane join the fun. As the song progresses, the actors transform into their animated alter egos from the film — like McConaughey’s Buster, a plucky koala. Oh, and Paul McCartney shows up, too!
McConaughey also sat down with Fallon to discuss the new movie and how he’s spending the holidays. During their chat, he revealed that his three kids — Levi, 8, Vida, 6, and Livingston, 3 — are all taking immersive Portuguese classes before heading to Brazil, their mother Camila Alves’ home country, for the holidays.
“The kids are taking Portuguese classes for the last week,” McConaughey told the late night host. “They already know a lot of Portuguese, but they’re taking Portuguese classes five hours a day for the last week in prep for going on this trip.”
In fact, the Oscar winner admitted his kids have taken to the language and already “speak much better Portuguese” than he does!
Sing hits theaters today. Check out the performance in the video above!
