Will & Grace is coming back to TV.
“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblattsaid in a statement. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”
Rumors of a revival started swirling last year when the four leads reunited to star in a 10-minute special election-themed short. When the clip went viral, it was reported that network execs were looking to bring back the sit-com, which ran from 1998 to 2006.
Earlier this month, Messing confirmed that the cast was in talks with NBC.
Series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will serve as showrunners and executive producers for the revival. James Burrows, who directed all eight seasons of the show during its original run, will return as director.
