We've never seen her like this before!
Yesterday we let you know that Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller has officially been released from the federal facility in which she was being held. In keeping with reports back in January that the Lifetime star would be leaving prison months early, sources said yesterday that the dance teacher has been released to a halfway house and will, in fact, be out of there before her initial sentence of one year and one day is up.
Now, fans have gotten their first glimpse of Abby on the outside, and the star is almost unrecognizable as she’s dropped some serious pounds while behind bars.
As Celebuzz! previously reported, Dance Moms studio head Abby Lee Miller is headed home from prison early! The original news that she might see the outside sooner than expected broke at the top of this year, but things at the Miller camp had been quiet ever since. Luckily for the ALDC head, TMZ reported yesterday that the star had, in fact, been released and transferred to a halfway house to serve out the rest of her sentence.
The Lifetime personality was originally sentenced to one year and one day behind bars after being convicted on 20 counts of fraud in 2016. The sentencing took place about a year later in May 2017, and Abby entered a federal correctional facility in July. The year and a day sentence should be up in July 2018, but TMZ is reporting that Abby is expected to leave the halfway house in late May.
Either way, the star has been spotted at her temporary new home looking slimmer than fans have ever seen her!
According to the Daily Mail, the star lost 100 pounds during her time behind bars thanks to a gastric sleeve procedure she underwent to much public controversy just before her sentencing.
“People were saying, ‘But your sentencing is coming up in a couple weeks!’ [… T]hat is true — and I’m really nervous about that, more than the surgery — but, there’s no right time [to get this done],” she explained of her decision in an interview with Entertainment Tonight last year.
The first hints of the star’s new look came in the form of a photo posted to the star’s Instagram in January which showed Abby alongside friends, including longtime ALDC choreographer and teacher Gianna Martello, during what we assume was a prison visit. She captioned the photo with a heartfelt message to fans:
“Sometimes in life you make mistakes I trusted the wrong people and didn’t pay any attention to things I should of. I’m more than sorry for the mistakes I have made.
My world flipped upside down when I had to enter prison. I did so with grace, the stories you read about me been a princess are untrue. I have made friends with both inmates and staff, I’ve tried to better myself, participated in anything offered to me and I am a better person for this experience.
All the press stories and speculation are not entirely correct however, I am feeling hopeful but no dates have been confirmed at this time.”
I am feeling great and ready to turn over a new leaf thank you so much to everyone for your support especially my nearest and dearest I love you all.”
She also added: “( and yes this is me in prison ),” to sign off.
“Me in prison” obviously referred to her brand new look! Abby was glammed up, glowing, and slimmer than most fans have ever seen her. Though the star rarely addressed her weight on television, it’s been hard for fans to ignore Abby’s fluctuations over the years and her apparently silent struggle to keep her weight under control.
From that photo and the ones we have now, it’s clear that she’s finally dropped the weight thanks to the help from her doctors.
