Listen, we’re not complicated people. We like french fries and we LOVE some good 90 Day Fiancé drama. Now while this isn’t drama in the traditional sense — you know, some good old fashioned hiding a wife or a secret criminal history – but instead it’s a serious clash over values. This couple (like most of the hit TLC show) are so different from each other but it’s not a matter of culture but instead one of them thinks, uh, that aliens are gods.
Mike – who’s from Washington – has been visiting his fiancée Natalie in Ukraine, since they’ve been having issues with getting her K-1 visa approved for her to come to the United States. Let’s be honest: a white man in the US trying to get his much hotter Eastern European fiancée to the US is hardly an uncommon plotline in the show, but this particular couple is especially interesting for one major reason.
During the trip, Natalie was pushing Mike to discuss the idea of kids — she wants to have children as soon as possible, while Mike is less thrilled by the idea.
A major reason is because Mike is secretly in a serious amount of debt, something that Natalia doesn’t know about yet. But there is another, much weirder reason that has given Mike a reason to pause.
The two are very different (which we know because Mike says it like, ever episode he’s in). The topic came up recently with Natalie’s friend Svetlana, because why wouldn’t it? While the trio were out to dinner, Svetlana noted how religious Natalie is (another totally normal piece of dinner conversation) when Mike revealed that while he isn’t religious per say, he does believe in a “higher civilization” — specifically aliens.
“I think aliens are gods,” Mike revealed with a very out of place nonchalant shrug. “I think gods are misinterpretations of what people have seen back in the day. F**k year I believe in aliens.”
Svetlana is clearly confused, and Natalie looked annoyed and embarrassed by Mike.
“That’s just my honest belief,” he added.
He went on to add that he would never ask Natalie to change her beliefs or discourage her from practicing her own religion, but the damage was done and memes were already being worked on.
