Is the couple taking a step back after their rushed wedding? Word on the street is that their lawyers are hard at work.
Justin Bieber has already wed his fiancé of approximately two months. He and Hailey Baldwin chose to have a secret wedding, away from the press. Evidently, the couple tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony last month in New York City, on Sept. 13, the same day that they were spotted getting a marriage license!
According to TMZ, they had preacher Jeffrey Quinn ready for their special day. He is a member of the faculty at Nyack College close to the courthouse. The pair also came prepared with a witness on hand: Josh Mehl, who is a close friend of Justin’s, and attends Churchdome in Los Angeles with the love birds.
Fans had already begun guessing that their trip to the courthouse led to more than just the marriage license. Many noted that their speedy wedding could have been for religious reasons (after all, they weren’t even sleeping in the same room before walking down the aisle), but while they were inside the Marriage Bureau in NYC, the singer got pretty teary-eyed.
According to TMZ, eyewitnesses revealed that the “What Do You Mean?” singer was crying and at one point told his fiancé, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby.”
One person claimed that Justin also thanked a court official “for keeping it on the DL.” Another insider said the court official was actually a judge, both of which insinuated that the pair had tied the knot already.
Of course, everyone has already assumed the couple’s marital status after Alex Baldwin, Hailey’s uncle, accidentally let the news slip before the Grammys.
Sources told TMZ that, although they are legally married now, the very religious couple does not consider themselves married until they have a church ceremony.
