“I’ll be your hype man any day!”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s joint tour, OTR II, ended in Seattle October 4. With the four-month venture finished, Bey took to Instagram to say a short but sweet message to Shawn Carter.
Alongside a short compilation of clips from OTR II concerts, Bey wrote, “To Shawn Carter, my Clyde, my best friend: this journey on OTR2 has been a highlight of my life. Thank you for every moment. I’ll be your hype man any day!”
“To the Hive and all the fans who supported OTR2, cheers to you and I. Salud!” she added.
Now that the couple is finished working, they can focus on more important things… like family. Bey’s mom, Tina Lawson, who married Richard Lawson four years after divorcing Matthew Knowles, recently shared exactly who encouraged her to take the leap into a new marriage. During a stop on Black Love, Mrs. Lawson revealed her 6-year-old granddaughter had a lot to do with it.
“My daughter gave me, for my sixtieth birthday, this boat trip, and we went on that boat trip and all of the other people on the boat trip were married, except us. I think that kind of influenced us a little bit because it was great,” the 64-year-old shared. “We called it the love boat and we just kind of rekindled relationships. So we were in that romantic space.”
She continued: “And then, after that, I went on boat with Beyoncé and Jay and Blue and one night we came down and Blue said, ‘Oh y’all look beautiful. When are y’all getting married?’ I think she was about 3. Not that that made us do it but it made us start laughing about it and thinking about it.”
As for Mr. Lawson… He made the major move based on Beyoncé and Solange. “I called her children and I asked for her hand in marriage from them,” he revealed. “I thought that that was important because I knew without that, based upon the fact that Tina lives for her children, it didn’t stand a chance, unless they were on board.”
The duo married in April of 2015, and they have been living in bliss ever since.
