Battle with Lupus
Vicki Gunvalson dropped a major bombshell on viewers during the Season 11 finale of The Real Housewives of Orange County when she revealed her daughter, Briana Culberson, had been diagnosed with lupus. Since then, fans have been following the 30-year-old’s struggles with the incurable autoimmune disease.
Unfortunately, it seems her health has taken a turn for the worse.
In a recent emotional revelation, husband Ryan Culberson, shared that his wife has been hospitalized yet again for complications stemming from her ongoing battle with lupus.
“Please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers!” he wrote on his Instagram, sharing a photo of Briana lying in a hospital bed. “Her lupus is causing inflammation around her heart and is causing it to go in and out of irregular heart rhythms now requiring her to have a cardiac ablation.”
In the selfie, the mother-of-two can be see wearing a hospital gown with a heart monitor attached to her chest.
“#lupus #lupussucks #lupusawareness#f**klupus,” Ryan tagged.
According to the post, Briana is seeking treatment at the UNC Health Care center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
While Vicki has yet to address her daughter’s recent hospitalization, she previously spoke about Briana’s lupus diagnosis last year, telling the Daily Dish, “Finally Briana was diagnosed. Unfortunately, it was diagnosed with Lupus. You know, I always kept hoping it was a misdiagnosis and she had something else, but unfortunately every sign is stating that she has Lupus.”
“Her struggle has been finding the right doctor. I mean, she’ll find a doctor and then that doctor says basically, ‘I can’t do anything more for you, so find somebody else.’ She needs a rheumatologist and she’s been finding one out of UCLA,” she said.
“It’s been hard on her,” the RHOC mainstay added. “She really has been struggling with it.”
