A YouTube audio of Britney Spears was shared to exhale.breatheheavy.com, and we’re shocked to hear what Britney shared about her past!
“I am here honestly just to open up to others and try to shed light on whether anyone has ever been through difficulties,” Britney began. “Honestly, I haven’t shared this openly either because I’ve always been afraid of judgment and definitely the embarrassment of the whole period and skepticism and cynical people.”
Britney explained that she was in her conservatorship for about 15 years, beginning when she was 25. She said that her friends were trying to reach out to her at that time, but because of her father she was unable to understand what was happening. Britney then revealed that she worked with her father in order to obtain medication for herself, but it is unclear if she was fully aware of the gravity of the situation.
“I literally spoke with a British accent to a doctor to prescribe my medication and a little later there was an exchange team at my house,” the pop star explained. “ I remember that my mother’s best friend and my two friends had a slumber party the night before they held me on a stretcher and, again, none of that made sense.”

The singer said that the paparazzi frenzy around her during this time was one of the craziest things. Although she didn’t see the harm in “playing chase” with photographers, everyone else felt that it was bad for her. Britney then said that when she was first taken to a hospital, there were more than 200 paparazzi outside of her home.
Britney added that she was not using drugs or alcohol during that time, but through her father’s abuse, she was unable to really have a sense of what was real and not. She explained that her dad was extremely harsh on all of her siblings by recounting a story from her brother’s days as a soccer player.
After the conservatorship began, Britney said she worked on How I Met Your Mother and then went right into her Circus album. She explained that she was working non-stop while also being forced to go to the gym and being called “fat” by those around her.
“I never remember feeling so demoralized and they just made me feel like nothing and I went along with it because I was scared,” she said.
You can listen to the full audio above, but overall we are so proud of Britney for being able to share her story!
Britney said that things started to change when she realized that she had so many people supporting her and on her side. She added that she gets “nothing” from sharing her side of her story except for being able to get the truth out there.
“I share this because I want people to know that I am only a human being I feel victimized after these experiences and how can I fix this if I don’t talk about it,” she said. “My life has been far from easy and you are not alone.”
What do you think about her story?
