The Olympian is forking over some serious cash
In 2015, Caitlyn Jenner was involved in a deadly four-car pileup while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The fatal collision occurred when the Olympian’s Cadillac Escalade rear-ended a Lexus, setting off a chain-reaction that left one woman — a 69-year-old widow named Kim Howe — dead.
Now, it’s being revealed the I Am Cait star has agreed to pay six-figures to several victims involved in the car accident.
The 68-year-old is forking over a bulk of the settlement — a whopping $500,000 — to Elga Maurer, the 73-year-old grandmother who suffered a C-spine fracture in her neck when her family’s Hummer H2 collided with a car that was tipped onto opposing traffic by the I am Cait star.
Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Peter Wolf-Millesi, who was driving the Hummer, will receive $100,000 from the Olympian. He claimed he suffered nerve damage to both hands and wrists in the car crash.
Meanwhile, Lea Wolf-Millesi, a model and lyricist, will also receive $100,000 in compensation. She allegedly sustained injuries to her legs, neck, and back as a passenger in the front seat.
Price to Pay
The couple’s two young sons — one of whom is now three years old (but was just four weeks old at the time of the accident) — will each to receive $50,000. A part of the settlement will cover one of the toddler’s medical cost, which was reportedly listed at $1,822 when he was rushed from the scene to the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.
A source told The Blast Caitlyn’s insurance company will be covering some of the settlement’s cost. While she was not officially charged in the collision, she will also be responsible for paying the Wolf-Millesi family $250,000 in attorney’s fees.
The deadly incident occurred Feb. 7, 2015 when Caitlyn’s Cadillac Escalade, which was towing a trailer with an all-terrain vehicle on it, rear-ended a Lexus on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The collision sent the Lexus into a spiral onto oncoming traffic, crashing head-on into Millesi-Wolf family’s Hummer and killing the driver — 69-year-old widow Kim Howe — instantly.
At the time, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials determined the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum was driving at an unsafe speed.
