Lately, Demi Lovato has been spending her days in a rehab. The singer even canceled her Tell Me You Love Me Tour in order to focus on her sobriety at the in-patient facility. However, it turns out that the Camp Rock star recently left rehab to go to Chicago.
After two weeks in the hospital, Demi Lovato finally entered rehab. However, sources have since told TMZ that the Disney Channel alum, along with her mother, recently landed in Chicago on a private jet around 2 a.m. this Friday, August 10. With such a late flight, fans are wondering just what all the secrecy is about.
The publication went on to say that Demi is actually in the Windy City for treatment to see a psychiatrist who specializes in mental health, sobriety, and overall wellness. This came under the recommendation of doctors at her rehab facility, where she’s been since last Saturday, August 4.
Demi herself opened up about her relapse and how dedicated she was to getting better earlier this week.
In an Instagram post, she wrote:
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. Is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.
I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all the pure love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.
I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai could’ve been by my side the entire time. Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.
I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.
I will keep fighting.”
As Celebuzz! previously reported, the “Stone Cold” songstress had refused to admit herself into rehab when she was confronted about her relapse shortly before her hospitalization. She had admitted to the world that she had fallen off the wagon when she released her song “Sober,” which had lyrics pertaining to her personal difficulties with addition.
According to Us Weekly, Demi had fired her sober coach right before her latest health scare. “She would only maintain sobriety for a few days at a time before relapsing,” one source told the magazine. “She refused to go back to treatment [before her overdose].”
At the time, the former Camp Rock star was also said to have been on the outs with her former life coach, Mike Bayer.
Demi was hospitalized on July 24 around noon local time after she was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home. At the scene, she was reportedly administered Narcan — an emergency medication to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose — before being transported to a nearby medical center.
That same day, a rep for Demi released a statement about her condition reading, “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
