It ain’t easy bein’ cheesy.
Lil Xan worried fans after posting a picture of himself riding in the back of an ambulance Monday afternoon. The rapper offered no explanation, leaving fans’ minds to think the worst.
Realizing his misstep, Xan took to Instagram Live late Monday night to put fans at ease.
“Yea, I went to the hospital today,” he began. “I just want to let everybody know that I was in the hospital not due to any drugs, but I guess I ate too many Hot Cheetos and it ripped something in my stomach open a little bit and I puked a little blood.”
“So we good,” he added, after clarifying that his trip to the hospital was not drug-related at all. The hip-hop artist seemed to be in good spirits, laughing while discussing the situation. Xan also revealed that he’s prepping for his upcoming tour.
“I’ve never been more healthier and sober in my life,” the star reported via an Instagram video the following day. He then thanks fans for their support and showed gratitude in the wake of his third tour.
“Lay off the hot cheetos, we need you forever,” an Instagram fan commented. “Health is wealth!!! I love you so much, stay safe,” wrote another.
The hip-hop artist’s hospitalization came all to close to the fatal drug overdose of his “hero” Mac Miller. Miller’s death affected Xan so much that he responded, saying he doesn’t “want to make music no more.”
During a No Jumper interview with Adam22, Xan said, “The Mac s**t is crazy,” adding, “I’ve been crying in my apartment, Mac didn’t die, Mac didn’t overdose.”
“When your hero dies, f**k that s**t, I don’t want to make music no more,” Xan said. He then touched on their last encounter together:
“Before I left, he was like ‘Be safe.’ People say that you know, like ‘be safe.’ But he grabbed me, and he pulled me back and he was like ‘No I mean BE SAFE’ […] That almost made me cry, that’s my idol right there.”
The Columbia Records artist is under contract, but admitted that he thought about “retiring after this contract.” For now, Xan found an immediate way to honor his “hero,” getting a face tattoo in his honor.
