Lisa Vanderpump has had a rough year!
She was forced to close one of her main L.A. restaurants, is facing a lawsuit from SUR employees, had to fire multiple cast members from her Bravo show Vanderpump Rules, and now has lost a dear family member!
This member of Lisa’s family is well known throughout the VPR and Real Housewives communities, and we are just as shocked at their passing as she is. Our hearts go out to her and her family at this time.
Earlier this year, Page Six reported that former SUR employees filed a class-action lawsuit against Ken and Lisa. According to the filing, employees accued the owners of forcing them to work over 8 hours a day, more than 40 hours a week, and seven-day workweeks without overtime compensation.
They’ve also accused SUR of improperly recording staff hours, manipulating records, and withholding breaks for meals. Guillermo and Nathalie Zapata are also named as part of the accused in the lawsuit.
Back in January, Lisa and Ken were sued for failing to pay overtime wages and failing to provide meal breaks at Tom Tom, SUR, Pump, and Villa Blanca. The case is still ongoing in addition to this new lawsuit. Vanderpump Dogs was also sued in January due to “intolerable working conditions.”
So clearly, 2020 has not been kind to Lisa Vanderpump for reasons other than a pandemic, and now she’s ending the year with a major familial loss!
Last night, Lisa shared that her pup, Giggy, has passed away.
“We are devastated to say that our beloved Giggy has passed away this morning,” she captioned a slideshow on Instagram. “He was truly loved, and we know how many of you loved him too. Our sweet Gigolo was such an incredible, unique dog, but mainly, because of him, we started The Vanderpump Dog Foundation and embarked on our mission to save as many dogs as possible.”
She continued to explain that although Giggy may be gone, his legacy will live on.
He inspired us to start our work in rescue, and for that we will always be grateful. Giggy’s legacy will live on, through every dog @vanderpumpdogs saves. Thank you all for your support. Rest In Peace Giggy, we love you. – Ken & Lisa
Many members of the Bravo family mourned the loss alongside the restauranteur.
“Giggy was the First Dog of Bravo. Truly love at first sight for the cutest pup we’d ever seen. RIP beautiful Gigolo,” Andy Cohen commented.
“Rip Giggy, you were and will always be iconic!” Katie Maloney said.
“RIP Giggy you were loved my many and brought so much joy to the world,” her husband, Tom Schwartz, added.
And earlier this morning, Lisa shared another tribute to her late pup.
