As fans prepare for The Hills reboot, they’ve recently learned that one very surprising celebrity will be returning to her roots — sort of. Mischa Barton will be joining the cast, and her connection to the hit MTV show goes deeper than you might think.
Now how’s this for some closure? Mischa Barton is set to join the anxiously awaited reboot of The Hills, and the star has a closer connection to the show than many may realize.
The actress is best known for having played Marissa Cooker on the very popular show The OC way back in 2003. It was The OC that inspired Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which gave us our favorite spin-off of the early 2000s, The Hills, which is, of course, now being rebooted with Mischa as a co-star!
According to The Hollywood Gossip, the show, entitled The Hills: New Beginnings, is set to premiere in 2019. It will reunite many original cast members, as well as thing kids, friends, and some brand new people, and will follow their personal and professional lives in Los Angeles.
It’s expected that Mischa will bring plenty of drama to the show. Based on her recent history, she will certainly add some flair to the reality TV program.
In January of 2017, Mischa was hospitalized after her neighbors saw her hanging over her backyard fence, rambling incoherently.
According to witnesses, she claimed her mother was a witch and talked about the world coming to an end. She was quickly taken in for a mental evaluation.
Her team released a statement the next day, claiming that as she had been out celebrating her 25th birthday when she was drugged.
“I would like to extend a big thanks of gratitude to the professionals at Cedars-Sinai for their great care of professionalism,” her statement said. “This is a lesson to all young women out there. Be aware of your surroundings.”
